As we entered our 150th year, we we’re feeling nostalgic, so we thought we’d do the same for fans of one of our forgotten favourites. Our brewing team selected six back-catalogue beers that were often lamented, and we put their return to a public vote. It is Spindrift fans who will be riding on the crest of a wave, but there was also strong support for our moreish mild, Gunhill, and ex-summer seasonal, Regatta. Spindrift’ takes its name from the spray blown from cresting waves - we see along the east coast after storms, making it evocative of our location. Its style, recipe, and dispense on keg, was originally designed to have broad appeal, which is clearly demonstrated in the support for its return. It attracted a wide range of drinkers across a broad spectrum of preferences and always went down well at events, so we are expecting it to bring back lots of happy memories. Those who loved Spindrift will also get the chance to introduce it to friends who missed it the first time around.

Description

First brewed in 2006, Spindrift has been re-released in celebration of Adnams’ 150th year, after winning a customer vote to bring back a past favourite. Fans of this fondly remembered blonde ale rallied around to secure its limited release for 2022. Named after the sea spray blown from cresting waves, it is refreshing, light, and evocative of our coastal location.

How does it taste

Brewed to its original recipe, Spindrift has wonderful orange peel and biscuit aromas and a bright, crisp citrus taste. Like its name suggests, it is crowned with a continental-style full white head thanks to the addition of wheat in the brew. You’ll find a touch of malty sweetness before its dry, refreshing finish.

My favourite beer — delighted it has returned!

Having been my favourite beer for years, I was very saddened to hear that Spindrift had been suddenly and inexplicably discontinued. Naturally, I am delighted it has returned — and really hope it stays on a permanent basis!

A sorely missed classic

One of my favourite Adnam’s brews, I was sad to hear that it has been discontinued, but delighted when they brought it back as an anniversary special. I really hope it sticks around afterwards.
