Description

Craft a bespoke bottle of gin that’s tailored to your taste, with an Adnams Make Your Own Gin experience. Our Southwold Make Your Own Gin sessions take place in our Gin Lab, located at the heart of the Copper House Distillery. During this fascinating experience, an Adnams Gin Maker will guide you through the process of making your own unique bottle of gin. Following a short tour of the Copper House Distillery to see our full-sized operation, we will scale things down to our mini copper stills and teach you the secrets of distillation.

You will learn about how to craft a great tasting gin, from balancing a wide variety of flavours and aromas, to understanding the influence of the distillation process. We will help you develop your own recipe from a wide selection of provided botanicals and you will go on to distil, fill and name your personal bottle. The experience also includes a tasting session showcasing our spirits range, including a selection of our best-loved brands, and any current seasonal releases available at the time of your visit.

This exciting experience lasts approximately 2, to 2.5 hours. As well as the opportunity to create your own full-sized, 70cl bottle of gin to take home with you, you'll also be given an Adnams goody bag and a voucher for our Southwold store, to receive a free memento of your day.

Our Make Your Own Gin sessions have five stars on Tripadvisor, due to consistently high reviews.

Useful Information Before Booking:

This experience is suitable for those aged 18 or over.

Our Southwold Make Your Own Gin sessions take place in our Distillery building and are therefore unsuitable for visitors in a wheelchair and can be a challenge for those with reduced mobility. Our distillery is located on the top floor of our old brewery building and access involves many stairs. If you would like to know more, please call 01502 727225 or email us for advice before booking.

Due to the current situation we are maintaining social distancing and face coverings are optional indoors. We may also be required to move through certain areas more quickly due to operational constraints. In addition, we have had to change some of the things we do to reduce potential touchpoints in our Gin Lab. However, this remains a fun and informative experience and we aim to keep you involved as much as we can.

Useful information before attending (please share with your party):

All visitors entering our site must wear fully enclosed shoes that cover both toes and heels; no flip flops or sandals are allowed. Please avoid high or pointed high heels, as there are slatted metal staircases to negotiate.

All guests are supplied with a high visibility vest to wear around our site, when instructed by your host.

We are asking guests to bring their own face covering to wear when required during the experience.

The session may also involve the use of a protective visor, which we would supply for your use if necessary.

A very worthwhile afternoon

A really interesting and informative visit, started with a tour of the distillery where they make their own very fine vodka, as a base for the gin. Had to taste those to appreciate the differences. Then we had to taste their different gins...lovely. Then we set about sniffing, tasting and selecting botanicals for our own gins, which we then went on to distil, bottle and label. Our guide and tutor Kate was the epitome of knowledge and charm. Recommended.

Excellent morning making gin!

Enjoyed a relaxed tour of the brewery and then our little class of 4 making our own gins together. Great guide and a tasting as well. Really enjoyed the experience.

2nd visit, and so worth it

After the first gin experience 4 years ago, we encouraged our friend to join us this year and we all weren't disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyable, Michael was a delightful guide. This and the quality of ingredients used make this experience a must
