Château Perron 2020 Lalande-de-Pomerol

Château Perron was built in 1642 and is one of the oldest wine estates in Pomerol. Family owned since 1958 by the Massonie family; it is now run by the third generation. The estate extends over 36 hectares within the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, with vineyards planted predominately with Merlot, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Vines are well established, with an average age of 25 years. Having followed sustainable agricultural practices in the vineyards for many years, Château Perron was certified as an Organic Agriculture producer in 2022.

Description

Château Perron has a powerful, layered bouquet of red fruit, cinnamon, coffee and chocolate. The palate offers an impressive harmony, roundness and suppleness of velvety tannins. With flavours of blackberry, plum, rose, tobacco, and liquorice; the result of 12 - 18 months ageing in French oak barrels. Balanced and full of finesse, this is an elegant Lalande. Pairing with beef wellington will enhance the delicate floral notes so typical of wines from Pomerol.

How does it taste

Aromas of red fruits, dark spice, fresh oak, and chocolate are complimented by floral hints on the palate. Velvety tannins lead onto an elegant finish.
