Home To Burgundy's Coldest Cellars

This domaine has a fairly short history by comparison to some and it is therefore a testament to the quality of the wines that it is held in such high regard. Home to Burgundy’s coldest cellars, the domaine was established in 1973 when Henri Germain bought vineyards in Meursault, supplemented by his wife’s family (Pilot) vineyards in Chassagne. Today the Henri Germain domaine is run by his son, Jean-François, who has been joined recently by his daughter, Lucie. The domaine totals around 8 hectares, with many of the parcels averaging more than 50 years old.

Description

Grapes for Henri Germain’s Meursault comes from a selection of vineyards within Meursault: Clos du Cromin, Les Dressoles, Les Pellans, La Barre, Les Vireuils and Les Corbins. Both nutty and floral on the nose, the wine opens to reveal peach and apricot fruit with apple notes. It has a citrusy acidity which is beautifully balanced by a rounded mouthfeel (thanks to 18 months oak ageing), finishing long and crisp. Pair with roast chicken and pork, and soft mild cheeses.

How does it taste

Stone fruits mingle with apples, complemented by nuts and a floral note.
