From the owners of La Fleur-Pétrus

The Moreau family is a renowned wine merchant based on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. It was in 1950 that Jean-Pierre Moueix began his business with the acquisition of several well-known vineyards in Bordeaux and California, including Trotanoy, La Fleur-Pétrus and Dominus Estate. Since 1991 Christian Moueix, president of the family business, has also been acting as buyer of grapes from select right bank properties, which go into producing this wine and others in the house wines range. Avoiding flash and flamboyance, the wines are a representation of Bordeaux’s sub-regions.

Description

Part of the Moueix house wines range, the St Emilion includes unused grapes from Moueix’s grander properties, which goes some way to explain why the wine is just so good. Predominantly Merlot, this has a dark fruit character on the nose with an added smokiness. Raspberry and cherry notes fill the palate and are complimented by finely textured tannins, leading into a long, balanced finish. Barbequed beef joints will pair well with this wine, enhancing its smoky, fruity characters.

How does it taste

This has a dark fruit character with smoky overtones, plush tannins, and a bright acidity.
