Quintessential Bodegas Riojanas

Quintessential Bodegas Riojanas

Bodegas Riojanas winery is steeped in history. Throughout its more than 100 years of winemaking, the bodegas has evolved significantly but the traditions and passion have been passed down to the team that runs Bodegas Riojanas today. Owned by the Artacho family, the modern Bodega of Riojanas houses 26,000 barrels of maturing red wine, thanks to nine major expansions since 1890. With more than 300 hectares of the best vineyards in Cenicero, San Vicente de la Sonsierra and nearby municipalities, as well as Tempranillo plantings, they also own one of the largest surface areas dedicated to Mazuelo and Graciano in the region which bring a touch of individuality to their wines.

Description

Grapes come from vineyards of over 40 years of age to produce this excellent Rioja Reserva. On the nose, aromas of ripe strawberry and liquorice blend with the undertone notes of ageing in oak barrels. After 24 months barrel ageing (50% French oak and 50% American oak) and a further 12 months in bottle before release, in the mouth, the wine is fresh yet full flavoured with rounded, ripe tannins. Its long, lingering finish is a delightful mix of fresh fruits and baking spices. If you fancy eating like a Riojano at home, pair with lamb chops and patatas bravas.

How does it taste

Aromas of black and spicy fruits, clean and powerful. The palate is balanced, fresh and aromatic. Warm, long and persistent.
