A rich and complex Meursault

A rich and complex Meursault

Located south of Dijon in the Côte d’Or department, Domaine Matrot has been owned by the Matrot family since 1935. Today it is managed by sixth generators Adèle and Elsa who took over running the domaine from their parents in 2016. Production here follows organic principles but without certification – Elsa says that for them it is a way of life, not a question of ticking boxes. 2021 was a troublesome vintage in Burgundy with frosts being a theme, sadly causing Domaine Matrot to lose 50% of grape.
A rich and complex Meursault

Description

Domaine Matrot’s Meursault is rich and complex, with a nose of honeyed white flowers and some wood spice, whilst ripe peach and nectarine fruits sing on the palate. Matured in old barrels to retain its purity of fruit and minerality, there are hints of lemon tart and pastry. A racy acidity balances the rich characters and rounded texture of this wine, that is complete with a long, fruited finish.

How does it taste

White fruits blend seamlessly with floral and spice notes, resulting in a wine that is fresh, rich and complex.
