A fine Bordeaux to enjoy now

Situated on Bordeaux’s Right Bank in the beautiful UNESCO town of Saint-Émilion, Château Magnan la Gaffelière traces its origins back to the 1770s. The owner at the time was a cooper at Château La Gaffelière, where he drew inspiration for the name of this vineyard. Since 2017 the vineyard has been owned by the Moueix family. Sister property of Clos La Madeleine, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, Château Magnan la Gaffelière enjoys the same attentive approach in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Description

Ripe blackcurrant and bramble fruits flow from nose to palate, complimented by a floral perfumed note. Having spent 12 months in French oak barrels the wine has a subtle vanilla character with smooth, rounded tannins. Even with 8 years of age this is youthful and fresh – helped by being bottled in magnum. The finish is long, elegant, and fruit driven. To enhance the lightness and perfume of this wine, when pairing with food chose a fillet steak over ribeye. Add mushrooms – and truffle if you’re feeling indulgent.

How does it taste

Ripe blackcurrant fruit on the palate with a perfumed note and elegant finish.
