A baby Châteauneuf-du-Pape

A baby Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Château Beauchêne is located at the extreme limit of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, between the city of Orange and the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in France’s Rhone Valley. As such, the wines benefit from the same terroir, producing exceptional wines, which is obvious when tatsing this cuvée. Since 1971 the Bernard family have owned the estate. Michel and Dominique, along with their two daughters, have worked intensively for several years to create a healthy enviorment through the preservation of the château’s ecosystem and its biodiversity. They have done this by creating fauna and flora refuge areas, reduced irrigation in the vineyard, and with the introduction of bee hives, which also allow them to produce honey.

Description

Grapes are picked from vines that vary in age from 30 to 100 years old, resulting in a wonderfully complex Cotes du Rhone. On the nose, there is a vibrant bouquet of black cherry, vanilla and liquorice notes, which flow onto the palate and are complemented by a spicy, peppery finish. Partially aged in oak barrels for 6 to 12 months, the wine has bold yet smooth tannins and a rounded texture, balance by a long, fresh finish. Pairs beautifully with game meats, from rabbit terrine to venison stew.

How does it taste

Ripe red fruits are complemented by spices both sweet and savoury: vanilla and black pepper. Balanced by fresh acidity and bold tannins, with a long, harmonious finish.
