A dry Riesling with great finesse

A dry Riesling with great finesse

Established in 1639 in Riquewihr, Alsace, Famille Hugel is still family owned and is today managed by the 12th generation. The family owns 30 hectares of vineyards in Riquewihr, which are planted with only the noble grape varieties of Alsace; Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, and Pinot Gris. Most of these vineyards are a selection of the best plots in Alsace, with most classified as Grand Cru. Hugel’s Classic wines are made exclusively from hand harvested grapes that come from clay and limestone vineyards, which are situated on the steepest slopes in and around Riquewihr.

Description

Inviting floral aromas of lily of the valley and elderflower are complimented by lively citrus zest. On the palate, the wine is dry with zippy acidity and flavours of lemon, lime and yusu. There’s a hint of flint, which becomes more obvious with age, resulting in a fine, elegant finish. A great match with sushi and Asian dumplings dipped in soy sauce.

How does it taste

Dry and elegant with floral and citrus notes, and a fresh, delicate finish.
