Pomerol from one of Bordeaux’s finest vintages

Pomerol from one of Bordeaux’s finest vintages

Château Plince is owned by the Moreau family, a renowned wine merchant based on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. It was in 1950 that Jean-Pierre Moueix began his business with the acquisition of several well-known vineyards in Bordeaux and California, later adding Chateau Plince to the family’s portfolio. Today the estate is managed by third generation, Edouard Moueix. Situated just outside the village of Catusseau in Pomerol, the estate reaches roughly ten hectares. Vineyards are based on dark sandy soil, the iron content of which greatly contributes to the richness of the wine. Sustainable farming practices are followed, with less chemical use and more leaf trimming and green harvesting taking place throughout the year in the vineyard.

Description

The nose is a medley of ripe black and red fruits with a subtle spiciness. On the palate, red fruits fade into black plum, blackberry, and blackcurrant, which are spiced with clove and cinnamon, a result of 12-18 months in oak barrels. Tannins are bold and mouth-coating, balanced by a fine, fresh acidity and a long, spiced finish. 2015 is one of Bordeaux’s finest vintages in the last 10 years, with Chateau Plince offering great quality. This is not to be missed.

How does it taste

Red and black fruits are interlaced with notes of sweet spice. Big, rounded tannins are balanced by a fresh acidity.
