A charming red Bordeaux from 2016
Located on the left bank, below the city of Bordeaux, is Pessac-Leognan and it is here that Chateau Malartic Lagraviere can be found. The estate is owned by the Bonnie family, who decided to leave Champagne in 1996 and head for Graves and the wines they enjoy so dearly. Today brother and sister, Jean-Jacques and Véronique, manage Chateau Malartic Lagraviere. Protected by the pine trees of the Landes forest, the vineyards are planted with both red and white grape varieties and are maintained by sustainable farming practices. Vineyards are ploughed in a low-interventionist way – some with horses, whilst a flock of sheep roams the grounds to encourage biodiversity, and organic fertilisers alone are used when necessary. Réserve de Malartic is the estate’s second wine; when it is made with the same care and know-how as the first wine, and is from a brilliant vintage, there really is no better option than this.
