Monte Real Gran Reserva 2009 has a complex and ripe bouquet ranging from the typical Tempranillo aromas of red and black raspberries in the foreground, through to a background of mineral hints from terroir, subtly wrapped up in notes of cinnamon, cloves and cedar wood from the long and delicate barrel ageing. On the palate, this wine displays a pure, full-bodied, velvety attack with a pleasant core and the signature of terroir, ripe tannins and a long finish. Notes of oak and vanilla with a chocolate undertone rest comfortably on flavours of ripe berries and black plums. At 15 years of age, Monte Real Gran Reserva 2009 is still fresh and fruity and has a huge potential and ageing capacity which will enable this wine to continue growing.
