The LADY OF LEMBERG

The LADY OF LEMBERG

Tulbagh is the smallest wine region in South Africa, and it is here where the family-owned boutique wine farm, Lemberg Wine Estate, is nestled. An hour north of Cape Town, surrounded by the Witzenberg en Winterhoek Mountains is the 21 hectare estate, of which 9 hectares are dedicated to vineyards, including the only block of Hárslevelü in South Africa, a white grape variety originating from the Tokaj wine region of Hungary. The commitment to working with nature is reflected in Lemberg Wine Estate’s green farming practices, which includes the avoidance of harmful pesticides and utilising beneficial insects like ladybirds and wasps to control aphids. Whilst sustainable practices, such as cover crops, mulching, and hand weeding, minimize the use of herbicides.

Description

An exciting and intriguing wine from South Africa, this is a blend of the Hungarian grape variety Hárslevelü, plus Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc. Brimming with character, on the nose are delicate honeysuckle and pear aromas, complemented with yellow peach, apricot, and ginger on the palate. The wine spent 6 months in barrel resulting in a lovely texture and fuller mouthfeel that is balanced by a fresh and flinty finish. Lemberg’s Lady is an excellent match to Roquefort cheese and creamy spicy dishes.

How does it taste

Briming with character and flavour: stone and orchard fruits mingle with floral and spice characters, creating a wine that is fresh and layered.
