Burgundian tradition mixed with Laurent’s modern edge

Located within the Montagny appellation, the southern gateway to the Côte Chalonnais, is Laurent Cognard’s Chateau de Buxy. Laurent acquired his first vineyards in 1997, but it wasn’t until 2006 that he became a vigneron fulltime managing 5.5 hectares. Today, Laurent has 18 hectares spread over Loché, Montagny and Mercurey, and has built a state of the art winery on the estate. TERRA VITIS practices are upheld in the vineyard promoting sustainable farming. Whilst Burgundian tradition, with Laurent’s modern edge, is undertaken in the winery in the form of maturation in 500 litre casks.

Description

At five years old, Laurent Cognard’s Les Quarts is drinking beautifully. It has a delightful aroma of peach and orchard fruits; pear, yellow plum, and apple, which flows onto the palate. The apple is more baked here, with subtle hints of oak and butterscotch. Whilst rich, the wine has a lovely acidity and fresh persistent finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or pair with grilled langoustines.

How does it taste

White fruits and pear dominate the nose and palate, with an added richness on the palate that is balanced by fresh acidity.
