Ghost Ship is inspired by tall tales of the ghostly ships that haunted the shores of Walberswick. The seeds of these stories were likely sown by smugglers in a plot to keep the Suffolk coast clear. We wanted everyone to experience our best selling beer, so we invested in a de-alcoholiser specifically to craft Ghost Ship Alcohol Free. This reverse osmosis plant allows the team to brew and ferment it like all our other beers and then, at cold temperatures, remove the alcohol. It leaves all the lovely flavours from a full fermentation in the beer, allowing it to sail away with its original characteristics. In can, it is also validated as gluten free as we use an enzyme to break down gluten-type molecules as part of the process. You may see the words barley and rye emphasised in the ingredients list on products that are also labelled gluten-free, but please don't worry. We are obliged to label it this way by law. The accompanying gluten-free label means that the product does not contain more than 20 parts per million (ppm) gluten, so the level of gluten in the final product will be in line with the law on gluten-free.
