In the heart of South-West France, in a beautifully-preserved region, the appellation of Saint-Mont stretches out to the foothills of the Pyrenees. Benedictine monks grew vines here in the 11th century as can be seen today from the Monastery which dominates the village of Saint-Mont. Pilgrims on their way to Saint Jacques de Compostella used to stop in the village of Saint-Mont and it is not rare to see them walking through the vines today. The Plaimont winery has marketing savvy by the lorry load, efficiently delivering desirable wines to markets around the world, and organising breathtaking PR events like their 'instant vineyard' (cropping up at a city square near you soon). They've an admirable focus on polishing the finer characters of the region's local grapes.
