Before we have single malt, we have new make spirit. Adnams started distilling in October 2010 and a little later, we began laying down our new-make spirit in a variety of carefully chosen casks. We then waited impatiently for three years and a day, for our whisky to mature. It’s now 2023 and our distillery’s reached a milestone. We now have our first whiskies to reach 12 years old. Released as part of the Distiller’s Choice range, our 12-Year-Old Single Malt is made with 100% East Anglian malted barley and matured in ex-bourbon casks. It offers a tantalising taste of our future.

Description

Our distillery has reached a special milestone, with the release of a our first ever 12-Year-Old Single Malt - still something quite special in the English Whisky world. Forming part of the Distiller’s Choice range and presented in a smart branded gift box, it is made with 100% East Anglian malted barley and has been matured in ex-bourbon casks.

How does it taste

Add a splash of chilled spring water according to taste and enjoy aromas of butterscotch, banana and date-liked honeyed dried fruit. Flavours of vanilla and ripe figs follow, with light spice on the finish.

Seriously Good

I've enjoyed drinking malt whisky for over forty years. I have a group of favourites that I always return to, all Scottish except for one Irish. I now have another to add to my group of favourites. Unusual nose, Guava? After that I agree with all the tasting notes and what a long finish. Well done Adnams.

Exceptional Dram

I am a whisky snob. I regularly obtain the best Scotland has to offer. This whisky is up there with the best! Very subtle flavours and very smooth to drink. The bottle didn’t last long at all.

That's different.

Whisky tasting round my brother's and what a surprise. Don't think we've tasted anything like it, full of flavour, still working out all the different notes.

Was told about this in Frinton store whilst looking at other whisky , already have an Adnams whisky which I enjoy , another great Adnams product to enjoy !!!
