The Pichon Baron estate was founded in 1694 by the Pichon de Longueville family, who owned the estate until 1850 when the property was then divided in two by the family’s siblings: Pichon Baron and Pichon Comtesse were born. In 1933 the Pichon de Longueville family sold Pichon Baron to the Bouteiller family, who managed the chateau for over 50 years. Today it is owned by AXA Millésimes who have invested greatly in its renovation and reconstruction, helping to further establish Château Pichon Baron as one of the finest estates of Pauillac. Located approximately 25 miles to the north of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Gironde River, the estate covers 75 hectares. Vines average 35 years of age, and are comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Semillon (the estate produces one white wine).
