An under the radar gem
Producing some of the finest wines of Burgundy, Domaine Joseph Roty has an unassuming nature that ensures it remains under the radar. However, for those who know and love the wines the domaine has a cult following. Joseph Roty established the domaine in the 1960s with vines that came from his grandfather. He was succeeded by his son Philippe in 2008, who had already been managing the family business for several years previously. Tragically, Philippe died in 2015, aged 46, at which point his brother, Pierre-Jean, took over, aided by his mother and sister. Boasting one of the largest concentrations of old vines in the region, averaging 65 years, this release hails from ‘En Ouzelois’, Joseph Roty’s first plot in Marsannay. Minimal intervention is practiced in both vineyard and winery.
