OUR FLAGSHIP HOTEL Singled Out in New Hospitality Accolades

The Swan, Southwold has this week been awarded a coveted Michelin Key Award. The accolades are a new arrival from The Michelin Guide, which now grants One, Two and Three Key distinctions for outstanding hotels across the UK and Ireland.

Standing proud in the heart of Southwold, The Swan is one of only two hotels in East Anglia to receive this prestigious honour, and among a select group of just 123 hotels across the UK and Ireland recognised in all this year. In its summary conclusions, Michelin picks out The Swan as part of its ‘Big Splendour Outside the Big Cities’ section.

The Swan Hotel has been acknowledged with One Michelin Key, for its splendour of décor and design, paired with its relaxed and exemplary service - qualities that have always been at the heart of the hotel.

The Swan underwent a major refurbishment in 2017, which repositioned it as a contemporary coastal hotel. Every element of the design was inspired by the Swan’s heritage and it’s locality, to create something original, authentic and real. Part of the Adnams family, brewing and distilling cues run throughout the décor, from demijohn and wine bottle light fittings to bespoke beer bottle rugs and copper touches. The Swan partnered with outstanding craftsmen from near and far.

Nick Attfield, Director of Hospitality and Retail at Adnams, said “This accolade is a testament to the hotel’s team and all the more special to know we are among the first ever recipients of the new Key awards.”

The One Key award was awarded after several visits by the anonymous and secretive Michelin Inspectors, highlighting the consistent excellence of the hotel’s offering. This accolade reinforces The Swan Hotel as not just a local gem but a destination for those seeking a luxurious, unforgettable experience in Southwold.
