Thank you for your support
I hope this finds you all safe and well.
First, I want to give my sincerest thanks to all those customers, suppliers and communities who continue to support us. We will continue to clap and cheer loudly and do what we can to help those on the front line of this awful situation. Adnams is almost 150 years old and over those years we have learnt to innovate and adapt, something we are needing to do now more so than ever, and I am grateful to our wonderful team for their commitment and dedication.
We took an early decision to temporarily close our shops, hotels and pubs, granting a rent-free period. Today more than 90% of our colleagues are furloughed however they are still very much part of our team in spirit. We continue to support them and we all are looking forward to when we can be back together safely.
Supporting one another
We have been working closely with the team at the University of East Anglia supplying alcohol to make hand sanitiser and they have now made enough for over 500,000 pairs of hands, an incredible achievement that we are all proud of and we will continue to support this fantastic initiative. Some of our partner pubs have been selling provisions and others have adapted to be a takeaway and delivery service for comforting pub meals for their local community. As a small way to thank those who continue to protect us all and who need support, we have delivered over 3,000 small presents of the Adnams kind so far, to front line teams in hospitals, care homes, town halls, pharmacies and Police, Ambulance, Fire and other services to enjoy after their shifts, to say thank you from all of us.
Doing what we can
In the last month at Adnams.co.uk we have had as many orders as we did in the whole of last year. We have, and will continue to do everything we can to get your orders to you as soon as possible via our deliver partners. Last week within 48 hours we enabled our trade and wholesale warehouse to support online orders and we increased the capacity in our customer service centre. We made some temporary changes to our website to make it simpler and quicker for us to get your drinks to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience if you have encountered any problems with an order, we appreciate you coming to us at adnams.co.uk and we are working incredibly hard to get back to our normal service levels as soon as possible.
2020 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development
Our company values are rooted in making great products without costing the earth. I am incredibly proud that we have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. This is our third, which is almost unheard of, and recognises our enduring commitment to sustainability. We build in sustainable business practices throughout our organisation including building a fully sustainable eco distribution centre with one of the largest green roofs in the country that harvests rainwater, offering a home to over one million honey bees, having one of Europe’s most energy efficient breweries using 100% renewable electricity, sourcing much of our ingredients locally and sending zero waste to landfill. We believe in sharing knowledge and embracing collaboration with other businesses and communities - for 29 years we have been donating 1% of our profits to the Adnams Community Trust and in addition last year we supported more than 350 charitable causes. More than ever a responsible approach to business will be needed post this crisis and we are committed to continuing our sustainable approach to business.
We continue to brew and distil safely and once again, many thanks for your continued support during these difficult times.
Please take care, stay safe and be well.
Very best wishes,
Andy Wood, CEO
