New Year revelations

Our celebrations are only just beginning

2020 is shaping up to be a big year for us at Adnams. We’re excited to reveal why we’re keeping the celebrations going into this new decade and we hope you’ll raise a glass with us – even if you’re avoiding alcohol this month.

Dry January can be very wet when you #golow

It’s the time of year when many of us are making our New Year’s resolutions and we are here to help. If you’re having a dry January, our range of low and no alcohol drinks can make sure you stick to your resolution. That’s because we do low alcohol differently, making a full strength and flavour version, then filtering out the alcohol while leaving in all the taste.

Ghost Ship 0.5% is brewed this way and has made quite a splash, winning Gold at the World Beer Awards 2019. And we’re excited to reveal that we’ll be waving hello to a new addition to the low alcohol family – Wild Wave Cider 0.5%, coming soon. The perfect blend of bittersweet and dessert apples that makes Wild Wave 5% so refreshing is reflected exactly in this low alcohol version – we can’t wait for you to try it for yourself.

If a glass of wine is your preference, our Adnams 0.5% Sauvignon Blanc, 0.5% Garnacha Rosé or 0.5% Cabernet Tempranillo again show that low alcohol definitely doesn’t mean low taste.

New collaborations for a new year

We’re always delighted to work with other breweries we admire. 2019 saw some excellent examples of this – including Sprucy Banger with Northern Monk, So Many Different Worlds with Cloudwater and The Rule of Twelfths with Lost and Grounded. We’re happy to tell you that Master Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald already has some interesting concepts in the pipeline, ready to bring you more creative collaborations in 2020. Keep your eyes peeled because you won’t want to miss them.

Celebrating a decade of distilling

While we’ve been brewing great beer from our home in Southwold since 1872, our Adnams spirits launched in 2010 when we became one of the first breweries in the UK to install a distillery. John McCarthy, our Head Distiller, has been with us since the beginning, leading the way in creating vodka, gin and whisky of exceptional character. Our commitment to small-batch spirits made using locally grown grains in our very own Copper House Distillery has been recognised with a host of awards. (Over 100 in the past 10 years!) We were named vodka producer of the year at the 2018 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), with Adnams Longshore Vodka winning World’s Best for a second time as well as a silver outstanding medal for Adnams East Coast Vodka and silver for Adnams Rye Hill Vodka. Our Copper House Dry Gin received the World’s Best Gin accolade at the 2013 IWSC and a Gold in the Gin & Tonic category in 2017, while our Single Malt, Triple Malt and Rye Malt whiskies all won Gold at the World Whisky Masters 2019.

So, as you can see, it’s been quite the decade for our distillery. With a passion for food and travel that’s inspired some delicious limited-edition spirits over the last 10 years, we look forward to sharing what John has in store for you to celebrate this special anniversary.

Here’s to more good spirits in an exciting new decade.

Happy New Year!
