If altitude is what you are after, nobody has soared to the heights of Susana Balbo. There are two of her wines in this case. Susana has had a major influence on the wines of Argentina and her Dominio del Plata estate is a family operation. The grapes for Adnams Malbec, 'El Dominio', are grown at high altitudes on well drained, loam and clay soils. Their bright, juicy fruit provides all the concentration and structure you'd expect in a great Malbec. The Crios wines from Susana express her love for her children (Crios is the Spanish for kids). The grapes for this Torrontes are harvested from two sites, one in the Uco Valley of Mendoza and the other much further north from Salta. The wine is bright with lively floral aromas and a soft textured finish. A very approachable wine for one made by such a pioneer in the Argentinian wine world
