This wine is from a little known grape called Fiano which is grown primarily in Campania, southern Italy and Sicily, we think it's one of Italy's hidden gems. This particular wine comes from Sicily, with its wild terrain, active volcano and consistent climate, the wines here are great value if you know where to find them. Enjoy this with fresh mussels or served chilled with a bowl of dried almonds.

Better than 'all white'...

We enjoy the Sicilian wines but they're principally reds, in part because my wife seldom drinks whites in the evening for digestive reasons. This Fiano, however, met with her full approval - at least at lunchtime (when even the bottle looks impressive at the table) - and I've therefore bought it more than once. Light, crisp & distinctive, without being too dry, it's good both as an aperitif and paired with food.
