This wine is made from low yielding Garnacha vines in the plain to the south of the river Ebro. Grown in poor soils in a dry northern Mediterranean climate, the grapes achieve full ripeness toward the end of September. The old bush vines are hand-picked, while the newer trained vineyards are machine harvested. After a cold soak to extract colour, the vine is fermented at around 22ºC over seven to eight days with pumpovers twice a day to achieve medium extraction. The flavour of fresh fruit is key, with a rich, full mouth feel but low astringency.
