Berton Vineyard Wine Tasting
This morning, I had an impromptu filming mission on my hands thanks to the arrival of Paul Bartholomaeus, the Sales Director of Berton Vineyards. Sean and I are trying to capture as many winemakers, staff members and wine-peeps on film as we can this year to post up on to the Adnams Cellar & Kitchen website. The filming is quite basic (a Flip HD camera with a lovely, fool-proof, bright red ‘go’ button and not a lot else) but we hope that it will give a real insight into some of the wonderful people we’re lucky enough to work with. It’s home-made footage, but it’s honest and real – you’ll get to see the wobbles and all.
Paul, despite being no stranger to public speaking, was a little nervous in front of the camera. He soon warmed up though, and whizzed through five of his new wines. The Coonawarra Cabernet was my favourite – rich, ripe, cassis-scented fruit with a nice purity of flavour. All the wines (a Chardonnay / Viognier, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet and late picked Semillon) are typically Australian – clean, generous, and full of flavour.
