Adnams wins National Business Award for Corporate Social Responsibility

Adnams was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Award category at this year’s National Business Awards, sponsored by Orange. It scooped the prestigious title at a glittering ceremony, hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald in front of 1,200 business leaders, VIPs and press at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Adnams has an enviable track-record for being a leading environmentally-conscious business.

Its success is attributed to its socially and environmentally friendly approach to business. Firmly embedded in its culture, the firm has invested in sustainable and local community policies over many years. Placing great emphasis on good community relations, it founded the Adnams Charity to celebrate its centenary anniversary and endeavours to aid its community wherever possible. Initiatives include supporting the local high school, donating to charities in the area and helping cleaning Southwold beach.

Other steps taken include building a brand new distribution facility on the outskirts of the town. Built to the highest environmental specification, it has delivered enormous energy savings estimated to be in the region of £49,000. The brewer has also designed a new lightweight bottle, which recognised as a leading step forward in beer packaging, will reduce the firm’s carbon emissions by 415 tonnes per year.
