Adnams Gunhill ABV 4.0%

Adnams Gunhill

Adnams Gunhill

Tasting notes

A traditional dark ruby beer, delivering a full flavour. Full aromatic barley malts and an exquisite blend of hops combined to create a wonderful balance of sweet biscuit and subtle fruit flavours with a hint of chocolate bitterness.

What’s the story?

First brewed in 2008.

This beer can be described as a cross between a dark mild and an old fashioned brown ale. We use a blend of 4 different malts to give a rich dark beer that belies its low ABV. The toffee, chocolate and spicy flavours come from the Chocolate, Crystal and Aromatic malted barleys and the sweetness left from the Tipple malted barley is balanced by the bitterness from the Boadicea hops.

    Hi Richard,
We’re glad to hear that enjoyed some of our other brews on your recently visit to Southwold. Our beers are available in the Midlands so if you let us know your stomping ground we’ll point you in the right direction!
Alternatively we are currently offering mini-casks of Gunhill for home delivery so you could enjoy this cask beer in your own home. And not forgetting that we sell Gunhill in bottles too!

Thank you for your kind comments about our beer – we’re glad you enjoyed it!

I have just had my first and second pints of Gunhil today.  It was available at the Wetherspoon pub that I frequent. It was a new beer to me, and also to the Good Beer Guide. Although I am more a fan of golden ales, I did enjoy Gunhill. A very tasty pint.

I was in Southwold at the weekend and the barman at the Sole Bay Inn recommended Gunhill to me when I asked for a dark, malty bitter, my preferred style. He wasn’t wrong – it was absolutley delicious. For a few pints over an evening I would probably still go for the classic biiter, but for a mid-afternoon break the Gunhill was perfect.

Had a pint of Gunhill last night with my Adams & steak pie at the Bell in Rickinghall – perfect pint for a perfect meal.

    Thanks.
