Real Ale at ITFC this Saturday

For the first time, we’re bringing real cask ale to the Legends Bar at Ipswich Town Football Club. Our Cask Bar will be installed in time for the Blackpool match on Saturday 14th January.

The Adnams Cask Bar was designed to give ITFC supporters a fuller, quality Adnams experience, offering real, fresh, cask beer. The Adnams Cask Bar at ITFC will be the first place to go for the newest beer releases and the seasons’ finest flavours.  Each match will have different beers, offering supporters variety and something for every palate, enabling people to enjoy our range of beers.

To celebrate the launch, all supporters visiting the Legends Bar on Saturday also get the opportunity to taste three cask beers for free – Old Ale, Broadside and American-style IPA. Legends Bar is open to supporters in the South Stand before the game and at half time, and open to all supporters post match. Visit Leanne and Julie on the sampling stand, and they will offer match-goers the opportunity to draw a beer mat from a box. Anyone lucky enough to pull out a specially labelled mat can exchange this for a free Adnams and ITFC dual branded limited-edition bar shirt after buying a pint at the bar.

What’s the difference between cask ale and keg?
We usually supply Adnams Bitter to ITFC in kegs rather than casks. Kegged beer is sterile filtered to remove yeast and some proteins which could cause a haze and might lead to off-flavours in the beer if it’s kept for too long. Keg beer also has higher carbonation levels.

Cask beer is taken out of the fermentation vessels at the brewery and put straight into cask – we call it ‘live’ beer. It’s not filtered and although served ‘rack bright’ contains more proteins which gives the beer a fuller mouthfeel. Beer from kegs keeps fresher for longer which is why it’s served at the majority of the bars at ITFC.
