Great beer, but I’d love to see Adnam’s produce a traditional English IPA. I do like my hoppy beers, but always preferred the more complex mixture of hops and malt associated with the English version.

A pint of Broadside by the coast in Southwold is still hard to beat though!

I discovered this 2 days ago at my local Wetherspoons (George @ Whittlesey) of all places. Definitely had to be tried out as one of my fellow CAMRA commitee members hails from the States and I knew he would be jealous! Very drinkable and a contender for regular beer.

American IPA is (was ?) a wonderful beer. As it has a very different character to the standard Adnams beers, it must be a candidate for regular (or at worst seasonal) availability. Like one of the other correspondents I only found it at the Chelmsford beer festival, where it was my beer of the festival. Far more impressive than the other 2009-10 seasonal beers.

As i missed out coming to Southwold to try the American Style IPA,
It was a real bonus to find it at the Chelmsford Camra Winter Beer Festival.
I really beleive that this is the best beer in the world range so far.
The aroma was not as intense as i thought it would be,
But on tasting the beer it has bags of beautiful citrus hop flavour.
And a very pleasant dryish bitter finish.
Overall a lovely balanced beer.

IPA can be found at Rumsey Wells, St Andrews Street; King’s Arms, Hall Road; Tafford Arms, Hall Road; World’s End, Mulbarton and slightly further afield, The Angel, Larling. Let us know if you need any further suggestions.

Still trying to find it! Is there anyone in (or near) Norwich that has it?
Horse & Dray didn’t get this one; nor Mustard Pot. Couldn’t find it in Southwold; been and gone at The Star, Wenhaston.
